Queensland’s drought situation is well documented – some areas of the state have been in continuous drought since 2013 and 67.4% of the state is currently drought declared.
While droughts are part of life for many Queenslanders, it’s important, especially as a small business, to know how to prepare and cope with the many challenges a drought brings. Information is key, so to assist drought-affected Queenslanders, the Queensland Government has released an online drought portal that offers everything from details of drought declared areas, to financial assistance options for primary producers.
The portal is also a great resource to learn about counselling and support services such as the Rural Financial Counselling Service for primary producers and regional small businesses, and the Royal Flying Doctors’ Drought Wellbeing Service which offers free counselling and support for people living and working in rural and remote areas impacted by drought.
