The first round of the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s SMILE training program has been delivered, and now the business group is inviting more KCCI members to book in.
SMILE, which stands for “Supporting Mental Wellbeing through Information, Leadership and Education”, aims to create awareness in local businesses about mental wellbeing in the workplace as well as ensuring business owners/managers are supported.
The program, which was launched in June, is being run with the guidance of KCCI member Michael Sanford, from Bunyarra Counselling and Mediation.
Two people from KCCI member businesses are being offered a free NICL (Noticing, Inquiring, Connecting and Linking) group training session.
The first round of training was delivered to 18 KCCI members free of charge.
“If a business in the region is the member of the KCCI, we will fund two people from that business to do the NICL training,” KCCI president Damien Martoo said.
“We hope future funding applications will allow us to roll this training out to more staff and more businesses across the region.
“Alternatively, businesses can engage Bunyarra Counselling and Mediation themselves to deliver the NICL training.”
The KCCI’s next rounds of NICL training will be held at Kingaroy RSL Club’s Anzac Room from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on August 16, September 6 and September 20.
KCCI members should email expressions of interest to info@kcci.asn.au with their preferred date and the names of attendees.
