Path to Prosperity
In 2021 the executive was privileged to meet the then President of the Gympie Chamber of Commerce Tony Goodman at a breakfast organised by Cr Kirstie Schumacher. This introduction would be the start of a fantastic relationship, enabling information sharing and mentoring between Chambers. During that initial meeting a document by Terry Ryder was shared with us. Although the Chamber wanted to see the project in Kingaroy, and the South Burnett Region, it was forced to sit on the shelf for 2 years.
In early 2023 there was an opportunity to apply for funding through Bendigo Community Bank Blackbutt, Yarraman and Nanango; it was here that the Path to Prosperity project was conceived. The KCCI hired renowned property publication hotspotting.com‘s Terry Ryder, who delivered the “Why Invest In The South Burnett” report. The Chamber also invested in data analyst Neil Glenworth from DunneMedforth who reported on and discussed ‘Regional Economic Opportunities.’ These reports were launched to a Town Hall full of business owners and entrepreneurs championing Economic Development.
KCCI President Damien Martoo has expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “By delivering these reports, we can be confident in what the region has to offer and be ready to share the information gathered with the necessary stakeholders.” Mr. Martoo also extended his gratitude to the Bendigo Community Bank Blackbutt, Yarraman, and Nanango for their generous grant, which made this project possible through their Community Grants Fund. “We are so lucky to have amazing Community Banks like Bendigo that are committed to building the capacity of the community” said Mr Martoo.
